The common symptoms of clutch failure are as follows:
- Difficulty in engaging gear
- Crunching noise on selecting gear
- Inability to engage gear at all
- A juddering when pulling away from a stationary position
- Increases in RPM when the throttle pedal is depressed
but vehicle speed does not increase speed as it would normally be expected. - A pronounced burning smell.
- A vibration from the clutch pedal indicating a possible fault with the dual mass flywheel.
